HELP! Can't install or uninstall FP 2002 or 2003 Beta 2

M

Mike Lauff

I have FP 2002 and FP 2003 Beta 2 installed. If I run FP
2002 (from Office XP Professional with FrontPage) I get a
list of files with icons but no file names. If I try to
open a file FP switches to page view but nothing is
displayed. If I try to run FP 2003 Beta 2, which used to
work, I get this error:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the
patch package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package."
If I try to uninstall either FP 2002 or FP 2003 Beta 2 I
get the same error.
Any suggestions?

The BETAs were not intended for use together w/ prior versions
You could try upgrading to BETA 2 TR

The BETA2 Technical Refresh information for MS Office 2003 is at
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...b2-8354-4dda-b86b-cf9ce8616d98&DisplayLang=en

The MSO B2TR contains all the common shared components required by FP (and the other products) - see above for details - and should
be installed before any of the below

The other BETA 2 TR are at
FrontPage

OneNote

InfoPath

Publisher

FYI - You must have BETA2 installed for any of these download REFRESH patches to work

Though I've never installed FP 2003 Beta I did have the issue as noted above with FP
2002...couldn't start it, couldn't "repair", couldn't install or uninstall....the following
worked for me via Microsoft Support..........
-------------------------------------------
Here is a summary of the key points of the case for your records.

Action: Trying to uninstall FrontPage

Result: Encounter an error message

Cause: Corrupt Registry keys

Resolution:
Please perform the following files:
Rename hklm\software\classes\installer\patches.
Rename hklm\software\ms\windows\cv\installer\userdata\s-5-18\patches

Attempted to remove office - installation source is not available

Rename hklm\software\classes\installer\products\fp2002
Rename hklm\software\ms\windows\cv\installer\userdata\s-1-5-18\products fp2002.
Rename hklm\software\ms\windows\cv\uninstall fp2002.

It was great assisting you.

I hope that you were delighted with the service provided to you. Thank you
for working with Consumer Support Office
