FP Beta/FP 2002 Files Problem

FP Beta seems to have made the filenames on the server disappear when I try
to use FP 2002. Here's the situation:

1. I installed FP Beta, but chose not to over-write FP 2002.

2. FP Beta seems to be working fine, (except for occasional runtime error
messages).

3. However, when I now try to use FP 2002, the folder and file icons
appear, but not the filenames, or any other file info, all of which is left
blank.

This matters to me since I'm not sure I'll actually want to/need to buy the
new FP when it finally comes out, but I obviously can't go back to FP 2002
if I can no longer read folder or file names, info, etc.

So, I'm wondering if there is some setting in FP 2002 that may have changed
that I can reset? Or what else can I do to fix FP 2002?

Thanks.

I think this has been reported a few other times by people. Removing the
beta has resolved on some machines.

Hmmm. That sounds reassuring. Semi. Sort of.
Remember, a beta is pre-release software and should never be installed on
your production machine! :)

You know, I can now see the logic there.

Seriously, it's a home machine, and it's used for staging, production,
post-production, life and death, etc.

So I dunno. If I can't fix this problem, it looks like I will, perforce, be
an early buyer of the new version when it is available.

Anyway, thanks for the info. If anyone has a solution, I'm open to any and
all suggestions.

Try deleting the web cache files associated w/ the FP web (*.web)
before you open it in FP2002 (after opening it in FP2003), then when
you open it in FP2002 run Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

Thanks for the suggestion, but that sounds indescribably scary.

Is this the sequence you are suggesting?

1. Open the web in FP 2003.

2. Delete the *.web cache file (and where is it?)

3. Close FP 2003

4. Open the web using FP 2002.

5. Run recalculate hyperlinks to see the filenames in FP 2002.
