Grouping of Similar Taskbar Buttons

This is an intermittent issue. I work in an environment with about 2,000
machines. From time to time, the settings in the taskbar either disappear
(customized toolbars) or taskbar and start menu properties that are selected
or unselected don't function correctly. A good example would be the Grouping
of Similar Taskbar Buttons, we have users that from time to time have this
unchecked because they actually preferr the Windows 2000 look as apposed to
XP. The property is unchecked within the properties but the open files start
stacking again even if this property. Is there a way to correct this issue?

there is a registry key that requires
to be edited. I discovered it on
microsoft.com because i had seperate
taskbar buttons for seperate opened
documents and this was bugging me.

the edit allows the opened documents
(or opened sessions from a running program)
to be clumped into one button.

do a search at microsoft.com for
something like "grouping tasks" or
any derivative of this criteria.
