Group similar taskbar buttons

Michael Taylor

I have the taskbar set vertically to the right hand side of the screen. I
have the 'group similar taskbar buttons' set but grouping never occurs when
I have lots of similar open applications, such as IE windows.

If I move the taskbar down to its normal position along the bottom of the
screen, the grouping function works ok.

I tend to work with many open windows and I use the vertical taskbar because
I can get more tasks listed on it than if it was horizontal.

Is the grouping only designed to work when the taskbar is horizontal?

Thanks
Mike

Grouping works in vertical mode too, but it doesn't kick in as quickly
because the vertical taskbar can hold more items than the horizontal bar.
Try this: unlock the task bar and reduce the available space for the
application entries. Once they start getting squeezed you'll start to see
grouping.
