Getting the scanner button to work - Epson 1200 SCSI scanner

R

Robert M Jones

I have just moved from win98SE to WinXPHome (clean install, new
homebuilt machine)
I have managed to beat my Epson 1200S (SCSI) scanner into almost total
submission except that the scanner button will insist on launching Ulead
Photo Explorer rather than Newsoft Page Manager.

When I look at Control Panel/Scanners and Cameras and right click my
scanner and investigate Properties - Events tab, there is only one
option for the scanner button - and that is to launch Ulead. How can I
introduce my scanner to Page Manager which it was so familiar with in an
earlier age with Win98SE?

I have installed the latest drivers (Twain 5.53) from the Epson US site.
(The Europe site seemed to want to make me install the usb drivers when
I clicked on the 1200S driver link) and the full Twain interface is
working fine - originally I was only getting a half backed windows
version - but I have cracked that.

Many thanks. This is the final bit of old hardware/software needing to
be tamed in my upgrade.

I think you're lucky to have gotten an OLD SCSI scanner to work at All
in XP. Don't want to jinx it.
