Getting a profile to connect to the Exchange server.

I did a repair install on my HBeta client computer, but it reset the
device letters back to H. So I can log on, but nothing ran. So I have
uninstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled it. I then tried to start
Outlook. It wouldn’t connect. I then figured I had to create a new
profile. I added the Exchange server account, and gave it the user
name, but it kicks out immediately saying "The action could not be
completed. The connection to the Exchange Server is unavailable.
Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action:" I can
telnet to the ESMTP server using Telnet OBTS01 25.

What do I need to do now?

Turns out, there is a KB article that describes my problem exactly,
tells me the cause and three levels of cure. The KB is Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 325930

XCCC: How to Troubleshoot Connectivity Issues That Are Caused by RPC
Client Protocols Registry Entries

Three of the four sub-keys were missing from:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Rpc\ClientProtocols

And the first-level cure of replacing the missing registry keys cured
the problem. So, I am not using Outlook on that client again. I just
have to figure out how to configure it all over again. Sigh.
