FTP Connection Problem using IE 6.0

IH

I've always been able to get to any FTP site using IE
6.0, but starting last week, I get an error message as
soon as I hit enter after typing the ftp site address.

It says FTP Folder Error, Windows can not access the ftp
folder. Please be sure you typed the name correctly and
that you have permission.

Details:
A connection with the server cannot be established.

I have tried accessing the FTP server, from a command
prompt and it works, so I know it's not my connectivity,
but rather something to do with IE. Any help?

Thanks.

If you haven't tried it, you may want to do the following:

1. Go the Tools menu.
2. Click on Internet Options
3. Click on the Advanced tab
4. Scroll down to the "Browsing" section and make sure
the "Enable folder view for FTP sites" option is checked
off.

I have connected my website provider and this is what
they told me to do. Open your broswer, goto TOOLS >
Internet Options > Click on the Advanced Tab > Look under
the browsing section > Find "Use Passive FTP (for
firewall and DSL modem compatibility)" > Make sure there
is a check mark in the box. > Also make sure the "Use
smooth scrolling" has a check mark. Now try logging into
your FTP of your site. Good Luck! Let me know if it
works.
