Freeware on magazine sites

Does anyone know of any computer (or other) magazines which include any
downloadable freeware on their sites? The location of the magazine is
irrelevant.

You could give http://www.pcanswers.co.uk/downloads/ a try.

With kind regards,

PcMag.com
There is both freeware and shareware there. However, some downloads
require a paid membership. Just look for the freeware titles.

PcWorld.com
Again, both freeware and shareware.

Also lots of freeware and "free" commercial software (versions which
have been included on their cover CD / DVD disks) are on the UK PC Plus
site at www.pcplus.co.uk

Care to list the best of them (or all you have, with annotations)?
Could be a useful contribution to ACF.

Cheers, Phred.

Cheers, Phred.

I haven't had time to look at them thoroughly, but these four seem most
likely to be useful. I discarded two, one was difficult to navigate, the
other one was in German. It seems that uk magazines are the most helpful in
putting
programs online.

The downloads at this site are capped at 2kbps. The cap is only removed
when you subscibe to their premium service for a fee of £1.99.

All the links mentioned above offer freeware that are widely available
elsewhere. Now, if any of these websites allowed the public to
download applications that were bundled free with a purchase of their
magazine, then those links would be worth noting. My understanding is
that sometimes this happens, though it it is rare.

PC Mag used to do that with the utilities it published but as money got
tight they went to a subscription basis. It is still a good deal cause
one subscription allows getting all pgms.
