Firefox default - Outlook attemps to reinstall IE

im using xp and firefox 5.0 is set as my default browser - ie 8 is not
selected as my default browser. each time i try to open a link emailed
to me outlook 2003 SP3 - outlook stalls and attemps to reintall ie 7
and then gives me an error message that a i already have a more
recent version - ie 8. when i cancel out - Firefox opens - why the
conflict and how do i fix it?

Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs | Set Program Access and Defaults |
Expand the setting that's currently checked | Make sure FF is selected as
the default Browser.

However, many MS applications, including MS Office/Outlook 2003, will still
insist on IE being the default. I'm afraid you may find that the only way
to use, e.g., links in emails and make Outlook happy is to make IE the
default.
