I see; thank you. *Finally* Mozilla-management has decided to sync various &
sundry pages.....

Perhaps I stand-corrected. Page (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/) offers *no*
link(s) to download F-F v1.5, and when this writer does end-up following a
"download" link (http://www.mozilla.org/download.html), the presentation which
follows indicates than 1.0.7 is still the available download :-(

Most *certainly* a strong constitution is needed to put-up with Moz Foundation
(?) "B.S.".

Astounding though it may seem, nothing propagates instantly, so the
decision to sync and the sync itself don't happen simultaneously. They
have to wait until most of the mirrors have gotten it before they
update the web pages, else people start whining about "file not found"
errors.

Well, there is the big green "Download Firefox 1.5 for Windows" link.
And the link to builds for other languages. Maybe you need to refresh
the page?

mozilla.org is no longer the place for users to get Firefox.

Apparently.

Well, there is the big green "Download Firefox 1.5 for Windows" link.

And where is that (link), pray tell? Certainly not (I've used 2 browsers; F-F
1.0.7 & Opera v9b1) via that above page/link.
And the link to builds for other languages. Maybe you need to refresh
the page?

How many times? Well, I manually clean out F-F's cookies & cache after every
session. So, decided to click on http://www.mozilla.com/products/ - was taken
to a Downloads page, hovered my mouse over the text of "Windows (4.7MB)", only
to have http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.7&os=win&lang=en-US
greet my dissapointed eyes.

[snip]
mozilla.org is no longer the place for users to get Firefox.

True, but re-directs send one back to various *.org pages :-(
Apparently.

And still...

True, but why announce v1.5 as being "available" on Tuesday, when it is not?

Nothing dissapoint as do broken "promises" :-(

Wow, man, lighten up. It's not like they killed your firstborn.

Interesting. And still (this has been noted in that page's "Responses" section)
there is no proper-link/url for downloading of v1.5. Drat :-(

"Problem" SOLVED.

Went to http://www.mozilla.com/, put 'Proxomitron' into "bypass" mode,
refreshed page, and....

..::: hangs head in shame... ::::

I use Firefox 1.07 but have just installed Firefox 1.5 in a new folder.
Both appear to work fine. Separately of course! :)

Are you sure they aren't using the same profile folder? Don't know if that
would do any harm...

Sorry, confused here.. please bear with me. I'm going to upgrade from FF
1.0 to the newest version. Not today, but within the week. These
"nightly's" that are offered--what is the difference between those and the
'official' version on the mozilla website? On the day I upgrade which site
is best to take the upgrade from?

I have both Win & XP to upgrade (if that matters). Thanks

The nightlies are for the developers working on Firefox. Every day,
new code is checked in, then new "nightly" versions are compiled for
testing. Some end users do use the nightlies, but they are prepared to
deal with the bugs and headaches that may pop up on any given day.

You should use the official 1.5 release.

Alright, thanks for the explanation and also newsgroup info on another
thread.
I know I've learned more about this browser -here than anywhere else, thanks
all.
