Files + Settings Transfer Wizard

I'm trying to transfer some files and settings from my old computer to a new
one using the FAST wizard via a serial cable. Everything goes fine, it
connects through the cable, the old computer compresses the files and goes to
'Connecting to the new computer...', whilst the new one goes from 'waiting
for old computer...' to 'Connection established. Transferring your
settings...' and then everything comes to a grinding halt. I've tried a few
times and it always stop here. I've tried giving it a couple of hours but
nothing happens, and I can see in the task manager that migwiz.exe is doing
nothing.

Any suggestions as to what the problem is?

Thanks

If you had waited several DAYS it would have succeeded :) You would be better
off getting two net cards, and creating a network

I'm getting that impression from various sites I've just read. I think I'll
give up on the serial cable and just use a usb key to transfer the folders I
want. The only settings I wanted to transfer were the Outlook Express
identities and folders etc. Looks like I'll have to do a manual backup and
transfer over to my new computer. A link follows of a site I found that
describes how to do this if anyone reading this post is having the same
problems or is interested in backing up their emails:

Thanks for the advice Mark, I could have been spending days trying to do
this but I'll cut my losses now.
