File and Settings Transfer Wizard - can't connect 2 PCs

I just bought a new pc, and want to move the settings over. When I use the
wizard on the new computer, I get an error that the new computer can't get
the info from the old pc becuase the old machine has an older copy of the
wizard. The wizard suggests that I put the new XP cd in the old PC to get the
new version of the wizard. I did not receive a new XP CD, only a back-up
recovery DVD with all of the programs that were on my PC when I bought it.

Any thoughts as to how to get this to work? It seems silly that a new
version of a program will not talk to older versions.

TIA,

Blair

I am having a very similar problem... the computers want you to make a wizard
disk and you can't do it because you don't have the Windows CD. The
manufacturer of the computer can't help because you don't have a retail copy
of Windows XP.
I'm sure that someone has the solution to this delima.
please, someone help up out. I'm trying to move lots of very large files
and don't want to have to do it all manually.
