when browsing folders using explorer JPEG files appear corrupted. They are
also corrupted in IE6. However if I use any graphics package to open the
JPEG file the picture is displayed correctly. Are there default viewers for
explorer and IE6? if so where and what are they?

Hi Phil,

I am unable to find any 'official' information in regards to your problem. However,
according to my registry Windows Explorer uses the "TridentImageExtractor" Shell
Extension to display the image preview for following file extensions: .bmp, .dib,
..emf, .gif, .ico, .jfif, .jpe, .jpeg, .jpg, .png, .tiff, .wmf. Also according to my
registry, the InProcServer32 for the "TridentImageExtractor" is
%SystemRoot%\System32\Browseui.dll. So, you could try to solve your problem by
registering browseui.dll. To do that follow these steps:

- Quit all programs that are running.
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- Type regsvr32 browseui.dll, and then click OK.
- When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in browseui.dll succeeded" message,
click OK.

And if that does not solve the problem, I've found that many Windows
Explorer/Internet Explorer problems can be resolved by following the steps in this
