explorer history

how do i remove internet shortcuts from the history search. If for example I
type the letter a and enter in the history search bar it brings up 2 sites
that will not right click delete. by the same token if i clear the explorer
address bar and type say g the drop down menu will show google. I have
deleted files cookies and cleared history from the internet options control
panel.

restart computer
open IE6, go to:
tools>internet options>content>autocomplete
mark "forms" and then click "clear forms"

Hi,
Try these steps, in order.
1.Turn off Autocomplete for web addresses (Internet Options> Content>
Autocomplete.) Close all IE windows and clear the History from Control
Panel> Internet Options. You can re-enable Autocomplete after getting the
history cleared.
2. Try one of these free programs/files to clear the TypedURLs list (arrow
on the right side of the Address Bar.)
"DelTypedURL." This INF file will remove all entries.

These two freeware programs will remove some or all entries:
IE Address Bar Editor: http://www.freesoft.fsnet.co.uk/ieedit01.htm
EditURLs: http://www.aandrc.com/editurls/index.htm
3. Free History Eraser from
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm will delete the
History folder and a new one will be created when you restart.
Or the History folder can be deleted manually:
