Explorer hangs when you right click

Windows XP. Working fine for ages
Just upgraded Office 95 to 2000 and updated to latest SR
Now whenever you right click on the desktop - it hangs.
Also try and delete from desktop - it hangs
Get explorer up and try and delete in it - it hangs

Right click works in other programs - eg Firegraphic
Tried losts of things mentioned on the net - no good.

When do ctrl alt del can close system down and it
reports that explorer.exe is not responding
Explorer.exe is dated Feb 2003

Presumably this doesn't happen in Safemode??

Could be a driver or application plug-in causing trouble, but you must check
safemode.

Just to remind you:-
1]Try in Safe mode.Check whether it is happening or not
2]Have you installed Service pack?if not install it.
3]check all the avialable updates-including drivers.

Could be a more serious problem.
Some under lying file maybe corrupted (maybe explorer.exe itself).

Do you have an graphics card or other software with shell extensions?

(shell extensions= extra add-on menus and options)

Any illusive services running in the background.

Always a chance that it could have been uprading office.
Upgrades are not recommended generally, as they can cause a variety of
mysterious problems.
I am suprised you had Office 95 on XP.

Hello!
1] Scan your system with latest updated antivirus software.
2]Scan with spybot
3]Download JV Power tool and delete all the junk registries.

I don't know how to tell about shell extensions.
No services apart from the normal.
Office 95 was old - but could not afford anything else.
