I am currently running XP SP2, and am trying to restore my registry due to
minor changes. i made a backup file, and when i try to open it in regedit, i
recevie an error message that reads: "cannot import (filename). Not all data
was successfully written to the registry. some keys are open by the system or
other processes." what exactly does this mean? and how do i fix it? thanks

Forget the backup file. Do a System Restore. That restores the
registry to a time before your problems began, Hopefully. Go to Start>All
Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
