None of the solutions offered by Microsoft Website works
or applies. Problem: Whenever I'm in Symantec Honepage
and I try to update or click any links I get the
message "Error '800280IC' Error accessing the ole
registry./iisHelp/common/500-100.asp, line 17" and
sometimes its "HTTP 404-file not found". Please help me
find a solution to this. I cannot update my virus
definitions because of this and so get infected everytime
I use the internet. Downloaded Internet Explorer 6 and
installed but I still get the same problem. Many thanks
whoever can help me.

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.

If you did not create the file, then you may have parasites, or you are
using a web accelerator program that would be causing this problem.

Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.
