Editing Vertical Pictures

Hello all, i'm very new to this, just started playing with MM this week..
Question is i've imported some pictures which were shot in portrait (Vertical
pictures), is there a way to change the black background that surrounds these
pictures once they are in the storyboard. I would like to have the slideshow
with a different background color for these pictures. The landscape
(horizontal) pictures are fine since they cover the entire screen when
previewing in full screen.

I would resave the portrait (vertical) pictures so that they are
landscape and put my own background behind them and then use them in MM.
Make sure that the changed pictures are the same size as the other
landscape (horizontal) pictures.

Try the free download program from Microsoft called Photo Story 3.
When you import your pictures, the program will ask you if you want to
remove the black bars. This program allows more control over how you
want your slide show to look over MM.

Hello boricua,
Flash SlideShow Builder is also worthy trying software. It couldn't
help to make a different background color. However, you can use the
included theme designer to create your desired templetes. Anyway, much
easier than you consider.

Thanks for the replies, I've already tried Photostory but it doesn't
maneuvaring the crop when removing is very limited and it also does not have
the options mm has when it comes to transitions, video effects or music...
thanks for the idea though.

I'll also try the other options offered here... thanks to all of you guys, I
haven't used mm until recently but there is a lot of interesting reading in
this newsgroup and it is making me want to do more.. as well as get a video
camera so I can play with video... :)
