Adding Background Color to Movie

G

Guest

My high school students are creating a senior slide show using MovieMaker.
In the past, we have always used the default black background that appears
behind the pictures. This year, they would like to change the color that
appears here. In other groups, I have read that this must take place in the
image editing software. We use Adobe PhotoShop 7.0. However, adding a color
background in this software does not get rid of the black that appears around
the picture in MovieMaker. I have tried changing the canvas size in
PhotoShop and adding a different color background. I have tried increasing
the size of the photo, and I have tried to change the resolution. None of
these helps me with the black background issue in MovieMaker. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

The size of a frame of video is 640x480 pixels.

If you size your pictures to fit in a 640x480 rectangle and then fill any
background that the picture does not cover, you will get no black and just
what you see in your image you create.

If you work larger, just make sure your image is 4:3 apsect ratio

The background color is shown only when the input images are of different
aspect ration than the output aspect ration specified in the Tools ->
Options-> Advanced. If you match up all your images to be the same output
ratio (either 4:3 or 16:9) then there will be no black background shown.
