!E6.0 won't load pics on web pages on my own computer

This is causing me a lot of grief.
I can't get images to show when I load, (offline)from my
own hard drive , a web page I've made. (IE6.0 works just
fine when browsing the internet except for the website I
created. No pics there either) All of the text and text
formatting loads fine but no pictures. There is space for
them but not even a "red X" or any frame.
When I go to any html editor like Frontpage, which I wrote
the pages with, all of the pics load fine.
For instance, if I go to Windows Explorer and find the web
page I want to bring up, I double click the *.htm. IE6.0
launches and the page displays fine . . .but no pics. I
built a simple one page webpage using just one line of
text and one picture. Saved it as html. The htm file was
created and a separate subdirectory with the one picture.
Loaded it and the text was there but no picture.

this sounds like a problem where the img src tag used an *absolute* link. if
this is the problem...

if you go into a text editing view, delete much of the path to convert the
img url to a *relative* link. you should then have to ftp/upload only your
edited html file.

you can google a lot of detailed examples of this if necessary.

This wouldn't explain why the imbedded images in the
webpages I wrote on my own hard drive wouldn't show up.
Would it?

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
If still no joy then have a look at this page for other issues.

If you pics are generated by Java Script that may be an issue.

Hi,
I have the same problem. When I view a web page that I
have saved onto disk (using file-save complete web page),
none of the images show up when I subsequently try to view
the saved page. Yet if I use Mozilla they do. Did any of
you get that free Playboy 50th anniversary disk? I get a
javascript error and no pictures. Again it works fine in
another browser. I have been through all of MS
Knowledgebase articles. I have used their procedure to
reinstall windows to get back IE5.0 (by deleting
iemigrate.dll, registry modifications, etc. NOT a complete
reformat-install) then it works fine. Update to IE5.5,
problem. Install IE6.0 problem. Same with IE6.1. My
suspicion is that it is one of the security patches, the
one's that cannot be uninstalled. I recall reading that
this would surface after the patch and IE6 SP1 was
supposed to fix. Well it didn't. I installed the latest
JavaVM.

If I can't figure it out I may just change my default
browser but I like this better. Better mouse support, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.
