Well, im not afraid to say it, im a limewire user.. yes.. sew me.. im
kidding, please dont. :p anyways, one day after i got back from school, my
comp was scrwed up. So i used my windows defender to scan for spyware, none.
After things just stopped working, my paint, my media player, all not
working. So, i went to ms.com and got an antivirus, when it was done, it
found nothing.. at this point i couldnt belive it, technacally, there was
nothing wrong with my comp.. so i continualy tried opening paint, and an icon
poped up saying Windows/32 was not found.. so i reinstalled service pack 2,
that shouldve removed all the problems.. well it did, for a couple of
hours... Previously my sis had downloaded Nero, so i deleted that, and
deleted limewire. (one thing i forgot to mention, i wasnt able to acess my
windows security, or remove software, or system restore.) So, i thought
everything was good, but then a couple of hours later, everything went dumb
again... nothing worked, and thats when my sis told me she installed
frostwire... i couldnt get rid of it, and now i still cant.. what should i do?

Btw, if you read all of this, you probably realised it was written by a 16
year old.. :p
anyways, please tell me what to do.. e-mail is (e-mail address removed)

Contrary to public opinion, spyware and viruses aren't the only things that can
go wrong with a computer - they probably aren't even the most common.

Unless you want to pay for a professional to examine your computer, probably the
best way to go at this point is to save all your documents to removable media
and reinstall Windows. You might want to wait a few days in case someone else
in this newsgroup recognises your particular symptoms and can suggest a possible
fix.

Are you an ISP Helpdesk? That's what they do because they don't know
anything.
Why not suggest to the OP that he does a system file check FIRST? Then if
that doesn't work, a repair install. And finally if ALL ELSE FAILS a full
format and re-install.

Neither seem particularly likely to help in this case. However, you're quite
right, they're both worth trying, at least in principle. Of course, it would
have been more helpful if you'd provided instructions.

Xero - make sure you save your documents to removable media first, before trying
anything.

I wouldn't bother trying a file system repair, that's an procedure for experts.
(If you know someone with a bit of know-how they might be willing to do it for
you, or perhaps someone in the newsgroup will guide you through it.)

Booting from the Windows CD should give you the option of a repair install
instead of a full reinstall. It is probably worth trying this before a full
reinstall; it'll take a few hours but if it works it'll save you hours more
reinstalling applications and restoring your documents from the media.
