Documents and Settings folder mess

T

Tillpott

When i click on Documents and settings I have 6 folders.

Admin
Administrator
All Users
Config.Msi
Guest
Test

"Test" is the one that is used as default. (Don't ask me how - I can not
remember, someone from MS helped me with a problem a few years ago and she
named it Test and then could not rename it)

I have just had a new HD put in and the info on my old one was transfered
onto the new one so I did not have to clean install XP and find all my
drivers to update.

I would really like to clean up this group of folders but don't know how.

Would appreciate some help.

Thanks

You are seeing an aesthetic problem - not a technical one.

If you want a new user profile folder with some specific name - create a new
user, log on as that user, log off, log in as your TEST user, use the Files
and Settings transfer wizard to export your TEST profile, log out, log in as
your new user, use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard to import the
profile to your new one... (Or better yet - just copy the stuff *you
created* from one profile to the new one manually.)

After that - you can delete the TEST user and delete the TEST user profile
folder.

As for the rest - my suggestion is to leave well-enough alone.

Admin - name of a local account
Administrator - name of built in account
All Users - contains files which every user accesses
Config.msi - Don't know. Neither of my systems have this file in this
location.
Guest - name of built in account
Test - name of a local account

You are missing the Default user which is a template for creating new
accounts.

The only strange thing I see is Config.msi.

Outside of those two items, you have no problem.
