I have a machine of my mother-in-law's that has Windows XP. When I try to
create an internet connection under, the part where it asks how you get on
the Internet & so forth, and I say I am doing it manually etc etc, then when
it gets to the spot where it gives the options as to how, the ones for
connecting via a dialup modem are "dimmed out," not allowed.

I looked everywhere to see how to install dial-up networking components,
couldn't find a thing. Doing some searching at Google it mentions that XP
doesn't have an "installation" for dialup, and one person mentioned
downloading and running a program called WINSOCKXPFIX. I'm flat-out
confused.

Tips?

Larry,

An LSP / Winsock corruption is a distant possibility, and if that's it, there
are several possible repair tools, only one being WinsockXPFix.
