XP Pro upgrade disables dial-up connection

I just upgraded to XP pro from Home edition.
All my other system settings are okay, however,
my dialup connection is not working.
Troubleshooting my on board modem shows that
it is working okay. However, when I go to set
a new internet dial-up connection, the dial-up
connection option is grayed out.

I am at my wits end. Pl. advise.

Just to add something more.
I am upgrading from XP home with SP1
to XP pro.

I have a home-networking set-up which is
working fine.

Control PAnle->Modem->Properties shows modem
is fine. I am able to query the modem.

I removed the modem and reinstalled, problem persists.
