'Devices or Applications Disabled' warning upon start-up

suddenly I've been getting the above warning (yellow triangle with
exclamation point) in my start-up upon xp boot up. in the box it reads:
"'DirectCd' will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has prevented
these devices from loading. Click here for more details."

weird this is my Sony Viao Laptop does not even have DirectCD installed!
It's only a cpouple mos old and I have not load this software nor did it come
with it.

Any help in preventing this warning from popping up? When I click on the
box, it takes me to a website asking me to load software. I have also run
Spybot and it says my system is clean. ??
