Devices or Applications Disabled

JOHN

I recently upgraded my system from Windows Me to XP
Professional. Prior to this I was using a Sony DRX 510 UL
DVD+/-RW/+/-R external device to make back-up copies of
movies utilizing DVD X Copy Platinum software. I also
have an enternal Philips CDD4801 CD-R/RW device. I had
been using Adaptecs Easy CD Creator 4 for this device.
Ever since I have loaded Windows XP Professional neither
device will allow me to copy anything. At start-up I get
a warning message in the start-up tray which states:
Devices or Applications Disabled
Applications or devices on this computer use drivers that
will cause Windows to become unstable. Windows has
prevented these drivers from loading. Click here for more
details.

The details state that Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4, Windows
Media Player and Real Jukebox all have compatability
issues and need to be updated. I have removed Adaptec
Easy CD Creator 4 from the computer and upgraded Media
player. I do not have Real Jukebox at all. I have also
downloaded all of the Windows updates available. I still
get the message and can't copy anything. I have been in
touch with both 3.2.1 Studios who provide DVD X Copy and
Sony both of whom have been unable to solve the problem.

ANY assistance that anyone could give in helping to
resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. By the
way, both devices are listed as working properly in the
device manager and will play media just not record.

Hi John,

This script will correct the error message:

This edit will remove the drivers listed in the article below that causes
the message:

Save the file below to your hard drive. Navigate to where you saved it and
double click the file. A confirmation dialog will appear when the script is
done. You may need to reboot for the change to take effect.

Just some friendly advice: Get rid of Xcopy. It's junk. You'll have much
better luck with autogk (auto gordian knot) or the regular gordian knot and
DVD Decrypter. It requires a few extra steps, but it is very easy to use
and will fit your video to any size you choose. I've never had it get more
than 1MB off the size I specified.
