"Device Win32_CDROM Drivefail!!!"

After a (generally) successful PC rebuild to a decent spec, I got excited,
did some overclocking and then ran Uniblue's Registry Boost 2. A number of
problems have arisen! The one of the title is, I think, related to the
registry cleanup. Restoring registry backups hasn't helped.

I have two hard-drives - the existing IDE (WD, 1/07) and a new SATA 2
(Samsung, 8/07). After rebuilding, both were recognised by the system, but
only the one ranked first in BIOS was functional - i.e., programs would run
from it. So my desktop shows icons etc from whichever drive is No 1.
Recently, the above message appeared with the SATA drive - the system doesn't
recognise the DVD drives. (But I can now open Word docs on the WD). If I boot
with the 2nd HD, the DVD drives are fine.

That's my main question. A second (major but more complex) problem is that
games now crash frequently, sometimes crashing the system. I don't think it's
to do with the (modest) overclocking, and it's not temperature-related - my
MB, CPU and graphics card all run at fairly low temperatures. Any pointers?
I'm logged on with my wife's e-mail (it was more convenient), my best e-mail
is (e-mail address removed) Thanks!

snip misc. junk

In addition to over-clocking, you let a Registry Thrasher loose on your
computer, and you are surprised that "problems have arisen! "??
I would be stunned if problems had *not* arisen.

1. For hardware issues arising from over-clocking, visit an
over-clocker's newsgroup.
2. For Registry issues arising from the use of a Registry Thrasher, visit
the tech support site of the Registry Thrasher that you used.

Thanks, Og. I will avoid RTs like the plague. Overclocking my AMD 64 X2
5200 is easy via BIOS, and X1950 Pro via ATI Catalyst, but nudging the BIOs
is certainly dodgier, I've picked up some advice online, will kook further.
