Nero

I give up..............
have tried enough times to install RC1 on a different partition and it gets
as far as completing installation and crashes with something about memory
protection error.
My set up is
Abit AN8 Ultra
2X512Mb of Giel value ram
Nvidia 7300GT graphics(250Mb)
2xWD 160Gb SATA drives
One NEC 5471 DVD-Ram
One Samsung DVD Rom
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Not overclocked
Just standard settings.
Anyone?

One guess is that it doesn't like the specific system memory that you have.
I've run into that with XP and Vista. Swapping out the memory worked.

Even though you have not overclocked the system, there is a
possibility that the memory or CPU subsystem is not entirely stable,
even with default settings. You might have a bad memory module and
Vista is much more finicky than XP about having a stable system.

I suggest you get a copy of Prime95 and Memtest86 to check your system
for stability. Running Prime95 on both cores (must set processor
affinity) overnight will usually be the deciding factor. This will
load your CPU to 100% for hours, so make sure your system has adequate
cooling.

Memtest can be used as a backup to confirm that Prime95 was
successful.

In addition to Bill's good suggestions, I would also ensure that any BIOS
antivirus detection is disabled, as this will prevent setup from writing to
the boot sector.

Tried it with 512Mb, crash........blue screen
swapped the ram around, crash........

I still say you have a hardware issue.

Did you try Prime95 and Memtest86?
