Fatal System Error when installing Vista with MSI K9NGM motherboar

I'm attempting to install Wndows Vista RC1 on a system with the following
hardware:

Motherboard - MSI K9NGM (NVIDIA MCP51G chipset)
Bios - AMI 3.10 (latest version)
CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
Memory - 2 x 1 Gig Corsair DDR2
Video Card - NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT
Hard Drive - Maxtor 7V250F0 SATA
DVD Drive - Samsung SH-S182DB

However, once the installation process gets as far as (c) Microsoft with the
moving green bar the PC blue screens with the following message:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The initial session process or system process terminated unexpectedly with a
status of 0x00000000 (0xc0000001 0x001003b4).
The system has been shut down.

So far I've tried:
* Clean install with 32-bit Vista
* Clean install with 64-bit Vista
* Upgrade from 32-bit XP to 32-bit Vista
* Disabling all motherboard peripherals except for primary IDE channel (DVD
drive is on this)
* Configuring memory as Dual-channel, configuring memory as Single-channel,
removing 2nd DIMM

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Has anyone managed to install Vista on an MSI K9NGM mother board or on a
motherboard with an NVIDIA MCP51G chipset?

Thanks,

Tom.

What OS were you running with this configuration before you've
tried to install Vista?

In this case it might be BIOS, as sometimes the latest is not the best...-;)

I have the same trouble with a similar configuration, same motherboard. So
it's a motherboard incompatibility issue.

I contacted MSI to ask if the motherboard was compatible with Vista, they say:

Dear Sir,

Regarding to your concern, this board could support Windows Vista but due
this OS not release yet so we can't supply such drivers.
