Desktop PC Image to Notebook

Hello! I have a Ghost image of my existing desktop C: drive which I want to
load into a new notebook computer which presently has a blank hard drive.
I'm trying to avoid having to do a clean install on the new machine. I know
I will have to do at least a Repair Install using my XP disk. What are my
chances of success? Any tips on what to do before proceeding? My desktop
is a Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz and has XP Professional on it. The new notebook is
a Core 2 Duo. Thanks in advance.

No one can answer the "what are my chances" question. Personally, I think
they're slim, but you won't lose anything but time by trying.

I have successfully done what your are proposing two out of two tries.
I was going from a desktop to another desktop, but it worked without a
problem.
