Denied access without being asked for ID & PW

When I click on System on the Control Panel, and then click on the tab for
Computer Name, I see my computer is named AVS and it is part of workgroup
WHQ.

When I do the same for another computer I see it is named Toad, and is a
member of the workgroup WHQ.

When I click on View Workgroup Computers I see AVS and Toad, however when
try to Open Toad I am immediately denied access. Why aren't I asked for ID
and PW?

If "Sharing" is turned off, there is no need to be asked for the ID
and password.

I left clicked on My Computer, right clicked on drive C and made it sharable.
This had no effect on the problem I am having. Access is being denied from
another computer on the LAN to another. Both are viewable in View workgroup
computers.

Do you have a firewall?

If so, has the firewall been configured to allow access?
