Access Denied

I recently had my one HD crash on me, the OS died, but the data on the drive
is still intact. When I had this HD set up, I had one of the directories
(mine) password protected.

I used another HD to get the computer up and running, reinstalled the OS,
and made the other drive that the OS crashed on my slave drive, so that I
could get to my old data. One of my directories was PW protected, and when I
go to open it up, all I get is 'Access Denied' not even a prompt for a PW.
I do still have my PW, but am at a loss of how to get into that directory.
All of the other directories are accessible. I was the Admin on the old OS.

Help appreciated, I have no idea what to do.

Just to clarify, this will work for any drive, even if the other drive
already has XP installed on it, regardless whether it is not functioning?

I tried this suggestion by finding the MS tip, but perhaps I missed
something and will try again.

Hope you understood that I have XP on both drives, one OS is operational on
the one drive, OS still on the other drive but not functioning.

Thanks, and I will post back if I have continuing issues. Hopefully this
simple task that I am not familiar with will do the trick.
