How to get PW protected docs from old HD?

I recently had a new hard drive installed. Now I need to retreive some files
from my old hard drive, which is my c: drive. Only thing is that all of my
documents are PW protected from my old Windows login, which I can no longer
access because Windows now comes up from my new drive. How do I access my
documents on the c: drive? Thank you.

If they are encrypted, you will need to boot off of and login to the old
account and export said documents.

It really isn't password protection at work. When your created a new
Windows system, your username now has a different identifier. A username is
just another alias for the identifier, and it is a lot easier to remember
than a nearly meaningless string of characters.

Anyway, you need to take ownership of the files and folders as explained in
Help & Support. Questions like this get asked all the time, but I can't
remember the KB article which discusses it.

If your old documents were simply "made private", then all you have to
do is take ownership of the files. If they were actually encrypted
(EFS), then that's another story. XP Home doesn't have encryption if
that helps you figure out what you did.

Assuming no EFS:
