Defender in Start Up?

S

Scott

I just installed Win Defender. I am used to Norton Internet Security which
pops up a notice as soon as I turned on the machine. Since Win Defender does
not show me that it is "alive" unless I click on the icon to execute, I am
wonder if it working at all.

I saw Win Defender in the Software Explore as a start-up program. Does that
mean it starts blocking spyware as soon as the computer is done booting up
even if I have not clicked on the Win Defender icon to start the program.

I really hope so, because I don't want to turn it on every time I use the
computer. I want it to be working automatically.

Hello Scott,

Do you see the windows defender service running?
in Task Manager, this is msmpeng.exe

msmpeng.exe = windows defender service = real time protection.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

As Engel says, Windows Defender is active immediately on startup--running as
a service. There's no need to even see an icon for Windows Defender for it
to be fully functional--many installations are set to not show the icon
unless user input is needed.
