Dead Hard Drive when reverting back to XP

A co-worker of mine told me that he installed WinVista Ultimate and because
it had no OpenGL support he tried to revert back to XP but now the computer
freezes when the POST gets to the hard drive. Does Vista write anything or
do anything that may make it hard to revert back to XP? He claims that he
can't even get into the BIOS. Any help would be great.

Thanks

No. The Windows XP disc can blow the Vista partition and files away quite
nicely.

Windows Vista's OpenGL support is the same as XP's, there's none out of the
box, you need to install the graphics drivers from the manufacturers,
ATIposted there drivers with OpenGL up two days ago.

Clear the CMOS, try a different cable.

If it can't even get into the BIOS this is not an artifact from Vista's
install. There is a hardware/BIOS problem.

Yeah, reset the jumper on the board to clear the CMOS and he should be able
to get back into the BIOS.
