I think I have resolved the logon problem by running
system restore. I am now able to us e the mouse from
either account.
The hourglass however still flashes constantly and most
of the custom icons in Start/All programs have
disappeared.
Any suggestions
Thanks

Peter,

Assuming that your mouse driver problem is indeed resolved, now check
for parasites.

Check for viruses:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Check for spyware. Use HijackThis, Spybot S&D, and expert advice at
SWI Forums (all free). Complete instructions are available at:
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=5187

See what program is making the hourglass flash. Look in Task Manager.
Or, get a better diagnostic than Task Manager, such as Process
Explorer (free) from <http://www.sysinternals.com/>.

Cheers,
Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.
