When I access control panel in W2K, I get error message on most (not all)
applets that I attempt to open. Error message reads: "Access to specified
device, path, or file is denied."

Have searched newsgroups and tried various fixed but none seem to work. User
has admin priviledges, single, non-networked computer. Virus, worm checks
show nothing.

Listed Control panel applets. Those able to asccess are noted. Applets with
different error mess age(s) noted. Applets with error message, "Access to
specified device, path, or file is denied." are simply listed as applet name
only.

Not realyy a reply but an update. Strangely enough i have found an
application called "Aida32 Worldwide Sysinfo" that can not only read a ton
of info on computer but can access and open any and all of these applets.

Needless to say I have run various searches on group google and really have
not found anything that has worked to date. I think its something to do with
group / local / user policies but have not been successful.

Have run virus checks, worm removal tools, etc, nothing. Have tried sfc
/scannow, nothing. It might be a corrupt SP4 but I have not yet determined
what effect / changes must be done to safely accomplish.

Any help greatly appreciated.
