Client for Microsoft Networks

Dale Basye

In the LAN properties window when I check on the
checkboxes for "Client for Microsoft Networks" and "File
and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" and press ok
the error window comes back with a "Your current selection
will also dicablethe following components: i.e. the ones I
just checkmarked" and it in no way let's me check them.
What is the problem, it works with the wireless, but not
the LAN or 1394 connections? I have a Dell Inspiron 8600.
I have reinstalled the drivers with no help.
I have spent 3.25 hrs on the phone with dell, 3 hrs with
SBC/DSL, and 3 hrs with the IT Dept. here at work. Please
tell me what I need to do! Should I go back to my
Macintosh!

The LAN and 1394 network connections are corrupted. To fix them:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.

2. If the LAN and 1394 connections are bridged, right-click and delete
the network bridge.

3. Go to Device Manager.

4. Un-install the LAN and 1394 network adapters. That will remove the
corresponding connections from the Network Connections folder.

5. Click Action | "Scan for hardware changes" and let the system
re-install the network adapters. That will create new connections for
them.
