"Class not registered"

When I try to capture video in "manual" I get a "class not registered"
message. If I click "next" again I get "Unknown error has occured". If I try
"automatic" the tape will begin to rewind to the beginning, as it should.
However, I haven't let it go all the way back yet because that's not what I
want to do. I'm just trying to get some random clips. I'm using a sony
dcr-hc30 as the input device through an i-link cable.

Any help would be appreciated.

try a test capture using the WinDV utility (link on the Digital Camcorders >
Intro page of my site)... and read the comments on the page... one of them
may help.

The usual problems are the firewire (i-link) cable and the card... try
others if you can and try your camcorder on another computer to help you
troubleshoot it.
