cd rom driver

for some reason my cd & cdr-w drivers have disappeared. while they are still
present physically, device manager says that no drivers exist. and since no
drivers exist i cannot update my drivers. i have no viruses or trojans, etc.
how can i get drivers for these devices when my system does not recognise
them

In the registry editor go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and locate the UPPER and LOWER filters.

Backup the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and then delete both the
UPPER and LOWER filters, then reboot the computer.
