can't "open" a file, and all pictures are saved as untitled.BMP

A couple days ago i tried 'opening' a winzip file, and it downloaded
into the temporary folder but when it launched the file there was
nothing inside the zip. Now this is happening with all files types,
nothing happens when I try to open it (as if it has lost the temp.
file). As well, when i save any image file, it uses untitled.bmp as
the file name and it won't let me change the file extension to
JPG/GIF/anything, even if the image is a JPG/GIF/anything on the site.
I don't remember changing any settings lately but someone else on this
computer could have done something accidently. Using Win2k (with all
the updates)

All or any help would be appreciated.

Try clearing the IE cache. IE> Tools> Options> General> Delete files (and
delete offline content.) It's often recommended that the TIF folder be kept
at 40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.

If that doesn't work, you may have a damaged TIF folder.
