2 WEIRD Problems

D

Dave

Using latest version of IE on XP Pro with SP1 and all the
updates...

1) When I right click on a web page, and click VIEW
SOURCE, nothing happens. Similarly, if I click on the menu
VIEW/SOURCE, nothing happens.

2) Even stanger, when I right click on a known JPG image,
and click "save picture as", it always wants to save it
as "untitled.bmp"

Everything else seems to work fine in the browser...

What's going on???

Thanks for any help!

Both symptoms would indicate that your TIF cache is full.

Clear the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and delete
offline content.) It's often recommended that the Temporary Internet Files
(folder) be kept at
40-50 MB. Bigger isn't necessarily better.
If still no joy then have a look at this page for other issues.

One answer.

The usual fix is to clear your cache.
IE-Tools-Internet Options-Delete Files (in the TIF section)

That seems to work about 98% of the time but if it doesn't, close IE
and reopen and do it again. Also it has been reported that clear
cookies helps, but ensure you save any that you need.

Both problems are usually fixed by emptying the Temporary Internet Files.

Also, if you have a shortcut to Notepad on your desktop rename it to Npad.

Some people have reported that Quick View Plus can cause this.
