Can't install Outlook settings.

My mother's Windows XP got screwed up so I re-installed to D:.

But one problem seems to still exist, possibly because I transferred stuff
from one to another.

I tried to open Microsoft Outlook (97) and got:
Unable to open your default mail folders. Outlook could not start because a
location to send and receive mail could not be found. To add a location,
such as a personal folder file, double click the Mail icon in the Windows
Control Panel.
Would you like to open your default File System folder instead? I have no
idea why I would want to open this, I don't see any place that I can import
a .pst file.
Going to Control Panel
I don't see a "Mail" icon, but open the "Mail and Fax" icon. It looks good:
General
Same as in Outlook Express
Servers
Same as in Outlook Express
Connection
I use a LAN connection
Show profile = One with her name.
I've been going to her house a couple of times per week for a month trying
to get Outlook 97 to open.

I went there this weekend, uninstalled Outlook, rebooted, uninstalled Outlook
again, with the same problem. I hope I don't need to do the same thing with all
of Office.

I went back there this weekend. I uninstalled Office, rebooted, and installed
it.

All this succeeded in doing is getting rid of Office upgrades (This is Office 97
and Microsoft doesn't support it anymore)

I still can't get it to open into anything but explorer. I have a message file
I need to import. Until I figure how to install Outlook, she will continue to
use Outlook Express.

I am having this same problem. My error message is:

\"UNABLE TO OPEN YOUR DEFAULT E-MAIL FOLDERS. COULD NOT OPEN THEM.
TRY AGAIN.\

I click ok and get:

\"WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET YOUR DEFAULT FILE SYSTEM FOLDER INSTEAD?\

when I click "No", Outlook closes, when I click "Yes" windows explore
is opened.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled OfficeXP (twice)...This situation i
curious because I am currently doing this instal on two PC
(identically new and unmolested) and it works perfectly on the othe
one...

After doing many searches online, this is the only thread that I ca
find that deals with this issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You aren't referencing your PST file.
