Can't Get Outlook Express 6 to Load at Startup Under WinXP Home Ed.

I've recently tried to setup Outlook Express 6 to load during WinXP Home
startup by placing a shortcut for Outlook Express 6 in the Startup folder of
the Programs sub-folder of the Start Menu folder inside the All Users folder
under Documents and settings.

I even opened Properties of the shortcut and set it to Minimized so the
program
would not open full screen on the desktop at Windows Startup. However, with
that done, OE6 never opens at Windows Startup for any user. What am I doing
wrong?

I shall greatly appreciate your help.

Hi Dick,

Try adding it here: Start/Run/Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In the right pane, double click Shell and add it.

Hi, again, Kelly.

Exactly how do I add it to the Shell in Winlogon? When I double-click on the Shell, it pops open showing "Explorer.exe in the Value Data box? I don't see any ADD button or any intuitively obvious way to add the command to run OE6 at Windows Startup.

Hi Dick,

Go to Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

In the right pane, double click Shell and add: "C:\Program Files\Outlook
Express\msimn.exe"

Note: Modify the drive letter for your XP/OE install. If XP/OE is
installed on C:\, it should

read: Explorer.exe, "C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe"

Once done, log off, then log back on.
