cant enable firewall

i have a broadband dialup connection, but for some reason
it is listed under Local Area Connection and wont connect
if i try to set up my account again. AND my main problem
is that it wont let me enable my Firewall, when i press
ok i get the message: "Ane error occured while Internet
Connection Sharing was being enabled. The dependency
service or group failed to start." I think that XP
thinks my computer is on a network when indeed its not.
But it wont let me set up just a normal internet
connection..
