Can't delete two files

Hi,
I was backing up some of my image files on my CD-R drive and hit a snag. Two
files (Adobe Illustrator ai files) are "stuck" in my cd (to be copied)
folder. The files will not copy onto a cd and when I try to move or delete
them I get a message: "Cannot delete (or move) (name of file): It's being
used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the
file and try again."

No one/no program is using these files. I've restarted the computer (many
times), uninstalled adobe Illustrator, ran error checking on the cd drive,
all to no avail. However these two files are messing with my use of the cd
drive. If I try to back-up some other data, I get a message that these two
files couldn't be copied. If I put a cd in the drive and look at it's
contents, I find the two illustrator files-from-heck listed as well as the
files that I know are really on the cd.

So I know these files are corrupted but how do I get rid of them? I would
be happy to delete them since I have other versions of the se images already
backed up.

I apologise if this is the wrong forum. I would be thankful for any help on
this matter.

Can't say as I've ever come across that problem but if I did here
are some of the things I'd try to fix it:

1.Boot into Safe mode by hitting the F8 key while the computer is
starting up. Open up your CD writer in My Computer and click on
"Delete temporary files" under CD writing tasks in the left hand
column.

2. While in Safe Mode, run Windows Explorer and navigate to this
location:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\CD Burning

If the files are listed there see if you can delete them.

3. While in Safe Mode, open a command prompt window and enter

Del C:\"Documents and Settings"\YOURUSERNAME\"Local
Settings"\"Application Data"\Microsoft\"CD Burning"\*.*

If these suggestions don't work then you might want to take a
look at these articles for other possible solutions:
