Cant change desktop background

Hi,
I recently upgraded my dell optiplex 740 X64 and i did this after a
fresh install of xp pro. For some reason I cannot change the
background. it is black an nothing else, i go to change the desktop
background in the personalization section and normally when you click
on something it automatically changes the background for you, but mine
stays black, all the time! Is there any resolution for this?

Try this:

Find the picture you want as a background (such as in
C:\Windows\Web\Wallpaper), right-click on the picture, and choose Set as
Desktop Background.
