Desktop Background

Hi, I was exploring around my PC after upgrading to Vista. Somewhere I did
something and my desktop background image changed from my preference to a
black background.
I keep trying to change from personlizing the desktop but nothing happens.
Now what ever I try to do , I am not able to change my desktop background
image. It remains only black.
Can someone help me out.
