???Can't add machine to Domain because of DNS lookup problem??

Hello Guys.....I have a functional domain and I can add
any other computers to it, but for some reason, this
machine "fell off" the domain and I cannot add it....when
i try, I get this error: "The following error occurred
validating the name "CONCORD". This condition may be
caused by a DNS lookup problem. For information about
troubleshooting common DNS lookup problems, please see the
following Microsoft Web site:
http://go.microsoft/com/fwlink/?LinkId=5171"

I have checked out that site, but it just talks about
active directory and we don't even use active directory
here.....I can't seem to figure out what to do at this
point....usually when a machine falls off the domain, I
simply remove it from the domain on the machine, and
uninstall and reinstall the network drivers and re-add it
to the domain and it works, but not this time.....I would
appreciate ANY help you could offer in this
matter....thank you!

Since this is a Windows 2000 newsgroup, I assume you have a Windows 2000
domain? If so you have to be using Active Directory in order to create a
Windows 2000 domain using dcpromo. Generally with Windows 2000 domains the
problem is that the domain member machine is not pointing to only AD dns
domain controllers as it's preferred dns server in tcp/ip properties. The
link below may help. --- Steve

I have a similar problem to add a W2K client to the domain.
We use 20 client computers and one server (W2k SBS/ISA/Exchang
server) in our company. A few month ago there was no problem to add
new machine/renamed machine to the domain, but since a few weeks i
seems to be impossible.
It started with a renamed clien, atfter renaming the client (lik
"PT001" to "WL001" and other IP) it is impossible to add it, eve
with the former name.

Sometimes in our company it is necessary to rename a client to add i
to another group. Group "PT" means "Prüftechnik", PM mean
"Produktion und Montage" and so on.
After renaming it (first into workgroup/rename it/back to domain)
the domain won't accept the new client with the above mentione
error. Even renaming it back to the former name seems not to work.
The hints on the Windows website and many many other hints on man
many other websites can't solve this.
All seems to be correct, AD, DNS, ISA and so on.

The first few weeks it was possible to add this client by completel
reinstalling W2K, but now even this won't work (same error occurs).

What can I do? Any hints?

cheers Nicker, and sorry for my bad English...:-
