Can't access some folder; access denied

I had some folders of stuff on a slave hard drive in my computer. That slave
drive was configured to be the My Documents folder (So instead of having My
Documents stored in C:\My Documents I had it in E:\My Documents)

Now, when I upgraded my computer, formatted C and reinstalled Windows, the
My Documents folder is now back in C:\My Documents, and I don't use E drive
to store My Documents anymore.

However, I wanted to access some stuff from my old My Documents folder that
used to be on E. I double clicked on a folder, and it said 'access denied'. I
can access most of the folders in my old My Documents folder, but not all of
them. Why not?

You need to take ownership of the files/folders and give your account the
appropriate permissions. Note you haven't specified if this is XP Home or
Pro. For Home you'll need to boot into Safe Mode to take ownership.

From Start | Help and Support search on ownership and permissions for info
or see these articles.
